Bald-Faced Hornets
Bold-Faced Hornets are clasified as a wasp. The only true hornet found in this region is the European Hornet. This species of hornet is much larger.
Yellow Jacket Wasps / Bald-Faced Hornets
Most commonly, we get calls for yellow jacket wasps or bald faced hornets that have created large nests on our homes, or inside our wall voids. Our technicians can locate these nesting sites and safely eliminate the pests & remove the nest. Carpenter bees are also a big problem in Massachusetts as they bore holes into wood siding/fascia boards to lay their eggs in. This can cause a great deal of damage to homes. After our technicians deter the carpenter bees, they’ll sometimes install aluminum coil (matching the color of your home) in these spaces to prevent carpenter bees from creating damage in the future.
Carpenter Bees
Carpenter bees are very common in Massachusetts. While it’s rare that they would pose a real threat to humans, they are aggressive in the fact that they’ll fly at you when near their nesting sites to try and scare you off. They can cause structural damage to your home by boring holes into moist wood (typically by fascia boards & soffit areas). They bore holes to create a site to lay their eggs. Underneath these holes, you’ll often see a fecal splatter which is never a pleasant site. At some homes, we’ve seen literally hundreds of carpenter bee nests. If the issue is not treated early on, they can multiply very quickly!
How to identify a Honey Bee

Honey bee
Honey Bees are a protected species & key pollinators. They’re very beneficial to our environment. It can be difficult to identify a honey bee as they look fairly similar to yellow jackets. However, honey bees are more golden-brown in color compared to yellow jackets (bright yellow & black). Also, they are covered in a short coat of hair.
