Nesting birds can cause all kinds of issues, ranging from simple mess, to endless noise, and even spreading disease. Eastern Pine Pest & Wildlife can help.
As any homeowner can tell you, nesting birds come with the territory. You’d be hard pressed to find a home that hasn’t, at some point, had to deal with nesting birds – and all the associated, if perhaps little-known, issues that come with them.
There are several species of birds that find our homes to be ideal nesting sites, in particular when they are looking to raise and protect their young. Moreover, these nesting sites don’t just sit harmlessly on top of your roof, out of harm’s way and not harming anything other than aesthetics. Indeed, birds will often find entry points along soffits, gutters, dormers, and through vents, invading ever deeper into your home and into spaces where their presence can cause real issues.
Issues like:
- Noise – their presence can be noticed by incessant chirping;
- Unsightly droppings – bird droppings can build up on roofs or siding;
- Blockages – in your drains, gutters and vents, which could lead to bigger issues (flooding etc.);
- Health hazards – both birds and their droppings can carry over 60 different diseases that can be potentially harmful to humans, including histoplasmosis (a type of lung infection), salmonellosis (causing diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and vomiting), and E.coli (bacteria which can lead to intestinal infections).
In other words, beautiful morning bird song can quickly become an agony of homeowner issues if not dealt with correctly. Eastern Pine Pest & Wildlife has years and years of experience dealing with bird problems safely and humanely.
How Eastern Pine Pest & Wildlife Deals With Your Bird Problem
At Eastern Pine we use a simple three-step process to remove birds nesting on or in your home, be it in wall voids, attic spaces, or elsewhere.
Step 1: We begin by scaring the birds out of their nesting site.
Step 2: Once the birds have flown the nest, we swoop in to clean the site, removing all of their nesting material and droppings, immediately followed by thorough disinfection of the site.
Step 3: We finish the process by tightly sealing up their entry points with professional grade materials.
Woodpecker Control
Another very common scenario we are often called upon to deal with in regards to bird control, is to deal with the existence of woodpeckers.
As destructive as they are pretty, woodpeckers can cause extreme damage to the wood siding on homes with their incessant pecking. Woodpeckers will typically attack your home’s wood siding for one of two reasons:
- To search for food – such as carpenter ants and bees or other insects; or
- To attract a mate.
To solve your woodpecker issue, our first line of attack is to control their food source by making an application designed to remove the particular insect they are feeding on (carpenter ants, carpenter bees, etc.,). Once the food source is controlled, the woodpeckers will also be controlled. We will then thoroughly clean the site and fix any woodpecker holes. Should this not work, we will install a woodpecker repellent to deter them.
For instances where they’re pecking specifically for mating purposes, we install a deterrent from the get-go.
Whatever your bird problem, our Eastern Pine Pest & Wildlife technicians have the experience and expertise to deal with it efficiently, quickly, safely and humanely.
